Medicare Part B Demonstration

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has proposed to restructure how medications are paid for under Medicare Part B, which covers infused or injected medications administered in a clinic or hospital setting. The Part B demonstration project is intended to reduce prescription drug costs but will have dramatic impact on patient access to the medicines their doctors prescribe. Physicians and patient advocates are joining together to warn Congress that this change will reduce seniors’ access to necessary medications for rheumatoid arthritis, cancer, Crohn’s disease, macular degeneration and other diseases.
