Patient Advocate
Johnny R. Boatman is a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel and senior national security professional with more than 30 years of combined military and federal service. After experiencing the challenges of living with amyloidosis, including frequent hospitalizations and a long wait for a heart transplant, Johnny became a passionate advocate for rare disease awareness and organ donation. He and his wife have dedicated a Facebook page, Anyone With a Heart, to sharing information about the V122i gene, the disease, early warning symptoms, and life after diagnosis.
Through his advocacy, he works to educate the public, support patients and families navigating complex health journeys, and highlight the importance of timely diagnosis, access to care and organ donation.
